Streams: There’s nothing that captures the energy and life of water like a flowing stream, so why not add one to your back yard or garden setting? The sound of the flowing water is naturally soothing to the autonomic nervous system, and streams also have that quality of wandering within a natural setting, leading your view around boulders, clusters of stones, down little waterfalls and into hidden pools. So for life, discovery and that cool soothing sensation of flowing water, a backyard stream is a perfect addition.
Fountains: If you don’t have the room for a stream or waterfall, the addition of a smaller fountain can give your design the benefits of flowing water and add its life and calming sound to your setting. Fountain designs are as varied as your imagination. Sometimes metal, other times crafted or well styled shapes, and other times more natural stone features. And they can be placed anywhere, poolside, within a wall, on a patio or right in the midst of a colorful garden. They can work their magic indoors or outdoors as well!
Spas: Softub ™ above ground are often added to decks, patios and outdoor garden areas. Their easy installation and covers make them a low maintenance option. Fiberglass Spa are also above ground and are more durable than their softub cousins in outdoor environments. At times these can be styled to a more natural look by doing some masonry work around the spa and laying in tiles on the rim, or using stone and boulders to create a more natural effect. For a truly natural look, opt for a Gunite Spa, which is designed with concrete built into the ground itself. You can create some truly amazing spa designs here, with large natural or faux boulders, waterfall features, complimentary sculptures or fountains, or even an adjacent fire fountain or fire pit. Some can be simple circular or oval designs, others more varied natural shapes built right adjacent to a sunken in-ground pool, or perphaps tiered just above the level of the pool. You simply cannot go wrong with the addition of any of these popular spa options, because there is nothing more relaxing or romantic than soaking in the turbulent steamy water under the stars with a glass of wine and a good companion.
